40 years of the British Social Attitudes Survey

In 1983, findings from the National Centre for Social Research (NatCen)'s first British Social Attitudes (BSA) survey were published. Today it is the longest-running measure of public opinion in Britain. In the last 40 years, the survey has generated authoritative data on a range of social and political issues. The 2023 report sees the fulfilment of one of BSA’s central aims, to identify and understand long-term changes in the climate of public opinion.
