what do we share online?

according to this presentation from rob medich (adweek), krisitin kovner (aol) and jon stewart (nielsen)  they used december 2010 data to look at how much of users communications involve linking to things and found:

- 23% of social media messages include links to content

- this goes to 47% when messages are specific to an industry

- sharing isn't age or gender specific

- and all the various platforms (e.g. email, blogs, social network) are used to share

- people mostly share with friends and family

- people are more likely to share content that is helpful or trustworthy or about popular culture
