1) take care of your own faith/spiritual discipline (to counter you pouring yourself out in service)


2) have some sort of community/place where you can be transparent with other believers (probably not in your own congregation or other pastors - but not impossible)


3) don't make your congregation a focus group for your own faith


4) don't let the congregation set the limits on what you are or do or can be


5) focus more on vocation (discerning your gifts) than on career (assembling your assets)
and where your gifts (what you lose sight of time when you are doing it) meet the crushing needs of the world - that is your vocation
